A terahertz (THz) source was constructed through the layer-wise addition of periodically-poled lithium niobate (PPLN) wafers. The resulting THz pulse energy and temporal pulse shape were measured. The measurement results corroborated previous numerical simulations. The introduction of a Gires-Tournois interferometer into the pump beam enables multicycle pumping. Simulations indicate that employing this method in identical PPLN wafers adds to the number of cycles and increases the peak electric field by over two times. An appropriate interferometer has been procured, and both pulse energy and the temporal shape of the waveform will be measured. Additionally, alongside the PPLN, a conventional tilted-pulse front lithium niobate scheme will also be examined.
