Abstract

We developed a meta-sensor utilizing a point terahertz source generated through optical rectification during femtosecond pulse laser irradiation on a nonlinear optical crystal, along with a few arrays of meta-atoms. Applied to blood analysis, the sensor successfully measured blood glucose levels (BGL) in volumes less than 0.5μL. The LC resonance frequency shifts in terahertz reflectance spectra correlated with BGL changes. The obtained results suggest that our developed meta-sensor enables highly sensitive BGL testing using extremely small amounts.
